S2C Tips: Prayer

As Christians, prayer is what we use for intimate communication with God, and since this blog is all about sharing and encouraging ( bats eyelashes) here are some tips from me to you.

ALWAYS PLEAD THE BLOOD OF JESUS
Get into the habit of pleading the Blood of Jesus Christ regularly. Especially during spiritual warfare prayers.
There are instances where I would be praying, and the prayer points would be such that The Holy Spirit would nudge me to plead the blood of Jesus on myself, family, room, house etc.

So I try to do it randomly too, before prayers,  during prayers, while traveling, before entering some places, in some sticky situations e.t.c

CONFESS KNOWN AND UNKNOWN SINS AND ASK FOR FORGIVENESS

It is always a good idea to clear the ground (so  to speak) of any thing that could stand against your prayers. Don't forget that Satan is the accuser of the brethren. He has that sin ledger, and if your name is on it, he will not hesitate to accuse you.
FORGIVE OTHERS
This flows directly from the above. The Bible tells us to forgive others so that we can also be forgiven. No sense tabling a long list before God or asking for forgiveness when we still harbour hatred, malice or unforgiveness in our hearts towards others. ( Takes notes, honestly I need to remember this often too).
 Matthew Chapter 6.
14"For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15"But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

BE THANKFUL
Always give thanks to God While praying ( and even when not praying).
Thank him for what he has done, what he will do, that which has has not been done, and that which he will do.
No one ( not even you lol) likes a " gimme" "gimme" person who likes to only collect and not show appreciation.

PRAY SINCERELY FROM YOUR HEART

Pic
Enough said. A minute of sincere prayers works more than one hour of insincere prayers. Reach deep within yourself and pray from the heart.

Pray from within.

Talk to God like your father.
I remember a time in my life when all seemed dark and there looked like there
was no way forward. I prayed some desperate prayers then, i cried and i
prayed, i reached deep within me and continued praying, i talked to God, i told him how i felt, i told him what i was going through and asked why it seemed so bleak, i prayed and one day God told me the first step to take.
And here I am today, not yet there of course, but far far from where i used to be.

So far you wouldn't believe except i told you where i used to be.
And where did it start from?
PRAYERS. Sincere prayers. Don't be shy to talk to God. He already knows what you want to talk about.

DO NOT PRAY AND ASK AMISS
Yes, it is possible to ask amiss by asking selfishly or without understanding.

For instance, praying for a a man's wife to die so as to move into his home and take over, or praying for that new car just so you can show that your neighbour that likes splashing water on you with is car pepper. Lol.
James 4:3 says:
" You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures."

BE PERSISTENT
Do not be discouraged. Be persistent. James 5:16 says:

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much".

As a Christian, you cant afford not to be persistent. You have to persist in prayer because you don't know the exact moment your prayer will be answered. Imagine if you now get discouraged at the precise moment when your prayer is about to be answered, and stop praying, that means all your efforts, prayers, fasting, vigils,  may be wasted, and you start right at the beginning. A lot of Christians are unaware of this secret.

Persistence is the key, and I can testify to that effect.

CONCENTRATE .
Lol.

Sounds very funny but it is possible to be in the presence of God and not concentrate. Even if it's five minutes you will spend in God's presence, let your soul, body, spirit be there. don't go to church and start thing of the woman owing you money or the food you will eat after prayers.lol. I am guilty of this sometimes, especially if someone has annoyed me. I have to fight to make sure I concentrate.

PRAY FOR OTHERS
Intercession is something that I can testify to personally. When I pray for others, unselfishly, like I would for myself, I find out that I get easy answers to my own prayers. Some that I didn't even have to voice out just comes to pass.

It's a mystery honestly.

AVOID VAIN REPETITIONS.
This is self explanatory.

This tips aren't exhaustive, so pls Feel free to add to it in the comment section.
